Foundation Learning
The aim of our Work Experience/Foundation Learning programme is to equip young people aged 16 - 18 with the skills and experience needed to enable them to enter employment or move on to further training.
A key element of the programme is the use of work experience and we currently work with a wide range of local employers who assist us by providing this valuable opportunity. An agreement is reached between the employer and a suitable learner as to the timing and duration of the placement. Support is provided by a member of staff whose role it is to work with the young person and the employer to ensure the experience is beneficial to both parties.
Foundation Learning is primarily designed to facilitate the opportunity for progression. It provides a positive learning experience offering support and the kind of environment that young people need to make the successful transition into their next stage of development. Progression may be to an Apprenticeship, to other employment-based opportunities or to further vocational training. The programme has proved to be a positive option for young people and a worthwhile experience for employers who may use this process to identify potential staff members.
Whilst on the programme the young person receives an EMA allowance (Educational Maintenance Allowance) together with assistance with travel.
If you feel that you would like to get involved and offer a work placement/s please contact us via e-mail or call Karen Cox on 01296 612401.
